The sixteen year old, son of the head of a hospital, rich Chiaki is discovered by the angel Access and is given a mission from Kami (God) to stop Jeanne. Of course, he begrudgedly accepted and moves into Jeanne's apartment complex in order to get closer to the girl.

There's only one problem, Chiaki doesn't believe in love because his mother died when he was a young boy and his father never showed up to her bedside in the end. So he turned out to major playboy just like his father, who, after his mothers' death, kept remarrying one after the other.

But Chiaki takes a big risk and decides to pretend that he is interested in Maron in order to get closer to her other alias. However, he never planned on actually falling in love with her. At first he tries to hide his feelings, but it gets harder as time goes on.

Once he clears things up with his father though, Chiaki finally admits to himself that he loves Maron and becomes obsessed with protecting and being with her. Even though he is constantly around Maron, she refuses to date him because she says he works for the devil. After Hijiri arrives on scene, Chiaki finally convinces Access to tell him the reason why he has to stop Jeanne.

After hearing the real reason why Jeanne needs to be stopped, Chiaki puts his feelings aside and seals the demon in Zen, killing the boy. After betraying his own resolve and saving Maron from Noin, he tries to go back to ignoring her but gives up in the end after Maron starts crying.

Chiaki finally tells Maron why it was that he and Access needed to stop Jeanne and when Fin admits to her betrayal and leaves, he takes care of Maron. Since Maron can't turn into Jeanne anymore, since Fin is gone, Chiaki leaves to take care of a demon himself but while he is gone Fin returns.

Fin attacks Maron and Maron falls from Chiaki's apartment, which is on the seventh floor. Maron's spirit goes back into the past with Noin, but Maron's body remains in the present and it looks like she is in a coma. When Chiaki thinks that Maron is in a coma, he is devasted and even begs his father to save her, but there was no medical science that could bring Maron back.

Maron finally returns from the past and wakes up - in Chiaki's arms - and the two are happily in love again. But Fin returns and this time uses demons to possess both Chiaki and Miyako, making the two think that they are in love. After Maron fights the demonos and defeats them; Fin sends Chiaki to Maou but then returns back into an angel and is unable to get Chiaki back for Maron. So Maron fights Maou one on one to have Chiaki returned to her.

When Chiaki is back the two continue on with their life together and are eventually married and so the ending comes into play.
