Chances

The ending to the series consists of chapter 30 and starts on page 129. This ending happens to be the most memorable ending to any anime or manga that I've ever read. I absolutely adored it, it drew everything to a close, all the couples that you loved ended up together and it was just generally wonderful. Since this also happens to be my favorite chapter and I cry every time I read it. I have the second half of chapter 30 up for download here.

The ending starts with Miyako, now a 24 year old housewife, yelling for her son, Shinji, who won't eat his breakfast. In fact, she can't find him anywhere in their apartment.

Shinji actually is hiding over with Chiaki, who is also 24 years old and is a doctor in training, and the boy is trying to eat pancakes that Chiaki had made him for dessert. Yamato, now a businessman, Miyako's husband and Shinji's father, arrives and talks to Chiaki. Apparently Maron is arriving home from...somewhere.

Miyako arrives and is irate because she still can't find Shinji, but Chiaki lets her know where her son is hiding. She then yells at him because he is always getting hotcakes from Chiaki instead of letting her make them. Shinji declares that Chiaki had promised him that he would always make him hotcakes, and it is then we realise that Shinji is actually the reincarnation of Access Time.

At this time, Maron comes in the room with her mother and her baby (which explains where she was). Instead of going to her husband though, she goes right to "Access...I mean Shinji" and tells him that the baby wants to see him.

Access can't figure out why until he sees that in the baby's right hand was the earring that he had given to Fin when she died. Realization hits Access and he starts to call her Fin, but Maron tells him that the baby's name is Natsuki.

Access starts to cry and yells, "I love you Natsuki, marry me!". All the adults are in shock (except Maron, who looks pleased) and Natsuki starts to cry.

Then Chiaki and Maron embrace, Yamato leaves to work and gets a goodbye kiss from Miyako, Noin is pounting saying that whenever Maron is reborn; he'll claim her and Chiaki's father has women chasing him around.

The scene shifts to heaven where the new angels are being oriented and recieving new names, when the next angel is allowed to keep the name that he had on earth: Zen.
