Maron and Chiaki. Jeanne and Sinbad. At first their relationship is shaky, because even though Maron thinks that Chiaki is cute; she also thinks that he is arrogant and a flirt. But Chiaki seems determined to make Maron his girlfriend but despertly tries not to have any real feelings for her.

As Sinbad and Jeanne, they are rivals for collecting the chess pieces and always play tricks on each other. Fron the very beginning Chiaki knows that Maron is Jeanne, but Maron doesn't find out that Chiaki is Sinbad until she sees him transform duing her gymnastics competition. This hurts Maron terribly because it was just around this time that she was starting to trust Chiaki. Maron also doesn't want to love Chiaki because Miyako likes him and because of the way she saw her parent's relationship unfold before they abandoned her. But when Chiaki brings Maron back when she runs away after hearing news of her parents divorce, Maron admits to herself that she loves Chiaki, she even ends up giving him valentine chocolate, which of course, he happily accepts.

And in the beginning Chiaki is a playboy and is pretending to like Maron in order to get closer to her other alias, Jeanne. Chiaki also never wants to fall in love because his mother, who he loved the most, died when he was five years old, and after that his father started marrying random women. But after Chiaki's father kidnaps him and they talk, Chiaki comes to realise that his father is still very much in love with his mother. It is then when Chiaki decides that it's ok to fall in love and seriously pursues Maron.

From then on, Chiaki is obsessed with Maron: to the point where he goes crazy if any other guy talks to her and is always hugging her. As Sinbad, he gives up collecting chess pieces and only focuses on saving Jeanne. However, Fin warns Maron against getting too close to Chiaki because as Sinbad he is working for Maou (the devil) and is their enemy.

Hijiri then arrives on scene and Chiaki gets extremely jealous and asks Maron out again, but she refuses because he is working for the devil. Jeanne and Sinbad really become enemies after Hijiri introduces Maron to Zen, a sick boy possessed by a demon. Since the demon is the only thing keeping Zen alive, Maron wants to wait until Zen can live without it. But Access had told Chiaki the real reason why Kami wants Jeanne stopped and is now convicted to take the demon now.

In the end, Chiaki betrays Maron and seals the demon - leaving Maron devastated and alone. Hijiri is there though and reveals himself as Noin and tries to rape Maron. Chiaki rescues her but leaves because of his mission.

The next day, however, the two finally make up and decide to go on a date. After which Chiaki tells Maron that Fin is decieving her. After that, when Fin leaves, Chiaki and Maron finally become a 'couple' and after Maron almost dies Chiaki treasures her even more.

But then Chiaki is possessed by a demon and thinks that he is in love with Miyako, and before he has a chance to really recover, Fin sends him to Maou. Maou confronts Maron and issues a challenge in order to get Chiaki returned, and Maron accepts and Chiaki ends up in heaven where Maron is.

The two spend one romantic night together before the fight, all the while Chiaki is very upset that Maron will be fighting. During the fight though, when Jeanne is almost killed, Fin sacrifices herself and dies in Maron's stead.

Maou is defeated and Chiaki and Maron return to earth and continue their lives together, eventually getting married and having children.
