Love

Yamato, the class president, is very much in love with Maron. However, he is also extremely nerdy, cowardly and quiet. Miyako is Maron's best friend and is in love with Chiaki. No chance for them? Not exactly.

After Yamato discovers that Maron is interested in Sinbad, he becomes determined to catch the thief for Maron and ends up following Miyako and the police to the crime scenes. He also seems to appear in all the right places for him to join Chiaki, Maron and Miyako in whatever they may be doing, may it be going to the carnival or seeing Chiaki's dad kidnap the girls.

While Maron and Chiaki spend more and more time together, they leave Miyako and Yamato behind to grieve. Yamato still doesn't seem interested in Miyako until he sees her crying when Maron returned from running away. As the two are alone together more often, Yamato comes to admire Miyako and her devotion toward Maron.

Yamato confesses to Maron, but of course, is declined. After that be begins to see a kindred soul in Miyako and the two are together more and more wallowing in self pity and so on. Afer Miyako is freed from the demon that possesses her and Chiaki into acting like a couple, Yamato confesses to her.

Miyako is angry because she believes that she'll just be a replacement for Maron since he's been obsessed with her for a long time, but Yamato denies it. Eventually the two become a happy couple and end up living right next to Chiaki and Maron.
